About Chad Elsey

Chad Elsey has significant experience litigating family law matters, including both property division and suits affecting parent child relationship. He has represented clients in cases dividing a total of over $100 million in assets. Chad regularly handles complex property division matters involving businesses, business valuation, separate property and forensic tracing. No matter how simple or complex, Chad has the experience, reputation and legal pedigree to attack cases head on.

Chad is Aggressive and Efficient in Representing Family Law Clients

Chad believes that the majority of family law disputes should not see inside of the courthouse, but the reality is that family law cases are the most heavily litigated area of law in Texas. Chad is also experienced in collaborative law, where the parties to a divorce case both agree to seek a legal resolution outside the courthouse. The series of information and settlement conference type sessions offer privacy and assurance of avoiding court intervention.

Chad is aggressive and efficient in representing family law clients. His naturally competitive nature was developed during Chad’s college basketball days, where he started at guard for SMU and later Baylor University.

Chad prides himself on his practice and dedication to staying educated on the constantly changing issues within the family law world. He routinely spends in excess of 30 hours per year on continuing legal education, including self-study primarily in the area of family law and related fields. Chad has been lead counsel on numerous cases involving temporary hearings; protective orders; contempt; enforcement; paternity determinations; child support disputes; clarification; suits affecting parent-child relationship, including disputes involving visitation and possession and access; post-divorce modifications; adoptions; terminations; retirement, including qualified domestic relations orders, pre and post-marital agreements and common law marriage.

Chad grew up in Denton County, Texas, is an active member of the Denton County Bar Association and presently sits on committee for the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County. In law school Chad was a founding member of the Sports Law Society.
